This Halloween season, we’re honoring the work of producer and director Roger Corman, Hollywood’s wild angel, with a free screening of Corman’s stunning gothic masterpiece THE MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH (1964) at Norfolk’s iconic Naro Cinema.
A lavish production of devilish decadence, MASQUE stars Vincent Price as Prospero, a Satan-worshiping prince who abandons his people to the perils of a mysterious plague, The Red Death. Locked behind castle gates, the cruel Prospero rides out the epidemic hosting lavish feasts and perverse parties for the local nobility, entertaining them with public executions and satanic rituals culminating in a masquerade ball that they’ll never forget.
