The Outstanding University Scholar award honors "a student who exemplifies academic excellence as well as overall achievement during his or her time at the University."
In addition to volunteering with the Virginia Beach Department of Emergency Medical Services, Benedict worked for as a chemistry tutor at the Math & Science Resource Center, performed her own research and has been recognized by a number of chemistry and science organizations during her time at 91制片厂.

She has been accepted into Eastern Virginia Medical School through 91制片厂's Bachelor of Science Doctor of Medicine program.
She cited Silvina Pagola as her most inspirational faculty member.
"Dr. Pagola helped guide me through my first research project here at 91制片厂 and solidified my interest in chemistry," Benedict said. "Throughout the project, her hardworking, patient and kind spirit always shone through. She is not only an excellent scientist but also an excellent mentor, and I will always appreciate the effort and time she took to make my time at 91制片厂 enjoyable!"
