The Department of Communication and Theatre Arts in 91Ƭ's College of Arts and Letters will host a "Insurrection: The Critical Reflection Forums," three discussions that focus on the roles communication, media and the arts can play in making sense of the violence in that occurred Washington, D.C., in early January.
The forums will broadly address questions of what brought us that moment and what we need to focus on moving forward. They are free and open to the campus community and general public.
The first forum will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 1 and will focus on the media's role. Panelists will include Assistant Professors Annemarie Navar-Gill, Allison Page and Myles McNutt along with Associate Professor Ted Gournelos. Registration is required at CommTheatreEvents@odu.edu. A link to the forum will be emailed the day of the event.
The other forums are scheduled for 6 p.m. Feb. 8 and 5:30 p.m. Feb. 16. They will focus respectively on nonviolent communication and conflict resolution and the roles of the arts in addressing this moment.
