Inside the Building

Construction of the new Biological Sciences building will begin in the fall of 2024 and will be complete in 2027. The five-story, 162,851 square-foot innovative learning center was funded by a state bond issue. This new powerhouse building will house the Department of Biological Sciences, the new two-story Arthur and Phyllis Kaplan Orchid Conservatory with a water feature and a terrarium and the College of Sciences Dean鈥檚 Suite and Advising Center.

The design takes advantage of north light by positioning the research labs on the north with full glass exposure. The student commons opens to the west taking advantage of the lush pond environment with a multi-story glass volume. There will be modern classrooms and teaching laboratories including a 120 seat-active learning lecture hall.
