The halls of the Children鈥檚 Hospital of the King鈥檚 Daughters (CHKD) were filled with holiday cheer today as gifts, hand-crafted by Industrial Technology students, were delivered by the dozens. Students were tasked with brainstorming, designing, building, and testing toys that align with the special needs of cancer patients.
Building and delivering toys has been a DCEPS tradition for nearly a decade. This year, the students used our Production Lab and Automation Lab to create unique toys with wooden and 3D printed components, including ring toss games and rubber band-propelled race cars.聽
While the children of CHKD experienced a bright distraction from treatment, the students of Industrial Technology improved their skills and learned more about the kinds of activities suited to children with extra needs. A gift that goes both ways!
