The American Society for Engineering Management, widely known as ASEM, is the worldwide society which speaks for the profession of engineering management. Members include academics from engineering management and closely affiliated fields such as industrial engineering as well as engineering management professionals from a wide variety of high technology industries.

The 2014 Conference, a peer review, present-to-publish conference was held this past month in Virginia Beach, VA, and hosted by 91制片厂. Among the conference program highlights comprised technical session tracks, special sessions, certificate workshops, student competitions, as well as several networking opportunities.

Each year, ASEM gives out a variety of awards to members, students, authors, and chapters. At this year's event, the 91制片厂's department of engineering management and Systems engineering befell several category awards, including:

  • ASEM Founders Award: For "Excellence in Master of Engineering Management Program" this award recognizes graduate program leadership, faculty involvement in professional activities which advances education in engineering management, and contributions to the engineering management field in research & practice. 91制片厂 is now a 10x recipient of this prestigious award.
  • 2014 ASEM Best Dissertation Award: "Shared Leadership in Six Sigma Teams from the North Shore-LIJ Health System" Brian Galli (Advisor: Dr. Holly Handley)
  • Merl Baker Award for Best Student Paper: Joshua Wallick (Advisor: Dr. Pilar Pazos) - Presented by the President-Elect and selected by Committee to the best student paper at the conference.
  • Meritorious Service Award: Presented by the Executive Committee to Dr. Ariel Pinto in recognition of his outstanding efforts towards the local American Society of Engineering Management Chapter.
  • ASEM Fellow Award: The Highest Level of Membership in ASEM, was presented to Dr. Rafael Landaeta for his significant service to ASEM, his Engineering Management accomplishments, and his continuing contributions to the Society.
