Project TEAMS-2 redesigned 91制片厂鈥檚 graduate pre-service special education program to include specific content on the assessment, identification, and literacy instruction of English learners/multilingual learners with disabilities. The graduate pre-service special education teacher candidates will receive training in the courses they take during their special education master鈥檚 program.
Four courses were redesigned to include information on second language/culture acquisition, evidence-based strategies to build the literacy skills of multilingual learners, assessment, family engagement, and collaboration with other professionals to address the unique needs of this population of students. The major focus is on English learners/multilingual learners with disabilities or at risk for a disability and how their assessment and instruction may differ from English learners without disabilities and non-English learners with disabilities.
