Mindcapes of Religious Violence: A Troubled Journey

91制片厂 Professor Annette-Croswhite

Thursday April 9 @ 7:00 pm

Learning Commons @ Perry Library

From the 1562 Catholic Massacre of Huguenots at Vassy, France to the Edict of Nantes; from the 1941 bombing of Paris synagogues to the death camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau, Dr. Annette Finley-Croswhite considers the geographies of oppression generated by religious violence in France and beyond. Explore this riveting and relevant topic with 91制片厂 Professor Finley-Croswhite, on Thursday, Apr. 9 at 7:00 pm in the Learning Commons @ Perry Library.

She will bring to the discussion memories of her own childhood as a Protestant minister's daughter to explore her interest in landscapes of religious violence in the sixteenth century during the Wars of Religion and in the twentieth century during the Holocaust.

The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Please RSVP at 683-4141 or njustice@odu.edu. Refreshments will be served following the lecture.

Co-sponsored by the 91制片厂 Libraries, this evening is part of the Friends of the 91制片厂 Libraries lecture series celebrating the integral role of the 91制片厂 Libraries to students, faculty, staff, and the community by showcasing the interests and scholarship of 91制片厂 faculty members and alumni.
