Mission Statement

The Language Learning Center (LLC) is dedicated to supporting students, faculty, and the Hampton Roads community in the study of world languages and cultures. Through the use of technology-enhanced methods and materials, the LLC has been a cornerstone of the World Languages and Cultures Department in the College of Arts and Letters since 1992.听

Welcoming over 4,500 visitors annually, the LLC is committed to excellence in instructional technology for world language learning and quality instruction. Our mission is to lead in the project development, integration, evaluation, and management of cutting-edge instructional technology, grounded in pedagogically sound research听and aligned with the World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages and the guidelines set by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).

Language Learning Center Student Assistant, Judah Joshua was recognized at the annual Honor Society Induction Ceremony hosted by the Department of World Languages and Cultures on Friday, April 19, 2024. The National German Honor Society, Delta Phi Alpha, "seeks to recognize excellence in the study of German and to provide an incentive for higher scholarship. The Society aims to promote the study of German language, literature, and civilization and endeavors to emphasize those aspects of German life and culture which are of universal value and which contribute to humanity's eternal search for peace and truth". We congratulate Judah on this prestigious award and accomplishment.
